Troubleshooting: Planera Not Loading Due to Blocked WebSockets

If you log into Planera and the app doesn’t load, it may be caused by your network blocking WebSockets, a type of secure connection Planera relies on.

This article walks you through how to test whether WebSockets are blocked, how to fix the issue, and what to whitelist so Planera can load properly.

Step 1: Disable Anything That May Block WebSockets

Many browser extensions or security tools can block WebSockets

  1. Disable any ad blockers, script blockers, or VPNs

  2. Refresh the Planera app to see if it loads

If Planera now loads, the issue was caused by an extension.

If not, continue to the next step.

Step 2: Test Whether WebSockets Are Working

  1. Let the test run automatically

    • If all tests show “OK”: WebSockets are working correctly

    • If any tests fail or show “FAILED”: Your network is blocking WebSockets

Step 3: Whitelist Required Domains

If WebSockets still fail after disabling blockers, your IT team may need to whitelist the domains Planera uses.

Provide the following list to your IT department:

Domains that must be whitelisted

Service Name

Application Purpose

Step 4: Re-run the WebSocket test

  1. Verify all tests now pass

If all items are green, Planera will load normally.

Step 5: Other Known Problems

  1. Make sure the browser (Chrome, Safari, etc.) is fully up to date. Having old out of date browsers is known to cause issues.

  2. Ad Blockers and Browser Blocks are known to cause issues. Those should all be disabled for the planera.io website.

  3. An iCloud+ feature called iCloud Private Relay is known to cause issues. This should be disabled when using the Planera application on Apple browsers such as Safari on Desktop and iPad.

  4. Certain firewall security packages such as Cisco Umbrella Policy are known to cause issues. These should be disabled (or exceptions should be made) in firewalls or networks using the Planera application.

Step 6: Still not working?

If your WebSockets still fail after following all steps, please contact us at [email protected] and include a screenshot of your WebSocket test results.
