View critical path and other float paths on canvas, table and gantt

Updated over 2 months ago

Visualizing the Critical Path and other float paths is essential for managing large, complex projects. You can now easily view both the Critical and Float Paths across the Canvas, Table, and Gantt views.

View Float Path of a Network

Click "Critical Path" in the header and enable the desired float paths you want to view. Planera allows you to view up to the top 5 float paths.

Note: To display only the selected float path activities, check the box at the bottom. This will work alongside other filters.

Visualize Critical Path

  • Canvas: Critical path elements are highlighted in red, while elements in other float paths are highlighted in yellow.

When "Show selected float path activities only" is enabled, activities not in the float path or an applied filter will appear in grey, while float path activities will be highlighted.

  • Table: Activities in the critical path will have a "CP" label, while activities in float paths 1 to 5 will have "FP1" ..."FP5" labels next to the element name.

Note: When "Show selected float path activities only" is enabled, only the selected float path activities will be visible, alongside any other applied filters.

  • Gantt: On the left, activities within the critical path will have a "CP" label, while activities in float paths 1 to 5 will have "FP1" "FP2"... "FP5" labels next to the element name.

On the right, critical path activities will have a "CP" label, and the network will be highlighted in red. Float path activities will have an "FP" label, and their network will also be highlighted in yellow

Note: When "Show selected float path activities only" is enabled, only the selected float path activities will be visible, alongside any other applied filters.

Organize table and gantt by float path

  1. Click "Organize By" in the "More" menu. A strip will appear below the header.

  2. Select “Float Path” from the dropdown

Your output will immediately organize itself according to float path.
