What Manny Can and Can’t do

A reference guide to the specific schedule changes Manny can make and the actions that still require manual edits.

Latest Update: 6-9-2026

When you ask Manny to co-edit your schedule, it works within a defined set of capabilities. This article covers exactly what Manny can and can't change. For step-by-step instructions on how to apply changes or run a scenario, see Co-Edit Schedules With Manny.

What Manny Can Change

Manny can make the following types of changes to your schedule:

  • Add, rename, or delete activities, milestones, and groups. Manny can create new schedule items, update their names, durations, and dates, and delete them.

  • Add or remove logic ties. Manny can create Finish-to-Start (FS), Finish-to-Finish (FF), and Start-to-Start (SS) relationships between activities, update their lag and lag type, and delete them.

  • Reorganize the schedule hierarchy. Manny can add activities into a group or remove them from one.

What Manny Cannot Change

The following actions are not supported and must be done manually in Planera:

  • Progress and status. Manny cannot update progress status, percent complete, or any other progress fields on an activity. Use the progress update workflow in Planera to enter these manually.

  • Activity codes and code assignments. Manny cannot create code types, add code values, or assign codes to activities.

  • Resource assignments. Manny cannot assign or remove labor or equipment on activities.

  • Calendars. Manny cannot create or assign calendars.

  • Comments and notes. Manny can read notes attached to activities, but cannot add or edit them.

Rules to Know

Keep these in mind when asking Manny to make changes:

  • Relationship type cannot be changed directly. To change an existing logic tie from FS to FF, for example, Manny must delete the existing tie and create a new one. Type is fixed once a relationship is created.

  • Start-to-Finish (SF) relationships are not supported. Manny cannot create SF logic ties.

  • Logic ties cannot be added to text or image elements.

  • Each schedule can have only one start milestone and one finish milestone. Manny cannot add a second one if one already exists.

  • Start and finish milestones belong in Master schedules. Manny cannot create start or finish milestones in a Field (Working) schedule, except when restoring a previously deleted one.

  • Task-type activities belong in Field schedules. Manny cannot add tasks to a Master schedule.

  • Duration ranges can only be set on activities that haven't started. Manny cannot update a duration range on an activity that is in progress or complete.
