Co-Edit Schedules With Manny

Use Manny to model a schedule change before you commit to it, or apply a change directly.

Latest Update: 06-04-2026

Manny can modify your schedule in two ways. A what-if scenario lets you model a change, see the impact on your project finish, then decide whether to apply it or save it as a new version. A direct change applies your requested change straight to the schedule, without the scenario step.

  • Use a what-if when you want to see the impact before committing, or keep the original in a separate version.

  • Use a direct change when you already know the change you want to make.

  • Either way, Manny shows a summary of the planned changes for your approval before anything is applied.

  • Applying changes requires edit permissions. Saving a new version requires the Project Owner role.

  • Any change you apply is recorded in the project Change Log, so there is a full audit trail of what changed and when (and if Manny helped). See Viewing Change Logs.

Run a What-If Scenario

  1. Ask Manny a what-if question, for example "What if the SD and DD activities were reduced by 10 days?"

  2. Review the summary of planned changes. Manny lists each affected activity with its current and new duration.

  3. Choose how to proceed. You can apply the results as a filter, or select Run What-If Scenario to model the impact.

  4. Review the scenario results. Manny shows the change to your project finish date and any savings to the overall duration.

  5. Select Apply Changes to update the activities in your current version, or Save as New Version to keep the original and create a separate version with the change.

Note: Saving a new version requires the Project Owner role. Manny confirms your permission, creates the version, and gives it a title automatically. Learn more about versions here.

Make a Direct Change

  1. Tell Manny the change you want, for example "Add 10 days to all SD and DD activities."

  2. Review the summary of planned changes.

  3. Select Apply Changes. Manny updates the activities directly and your schedule will become stale. Run your schedule to see the impact of the direct changes.

Note: A direct change does not include a what-if scenario step or the option to save a new version.

Frequently Asked Questions

What schedule changes can Manny make?

Manny can modify activity and milestone durations and relationships, add constraints to activities and milestones, run what-if scenarios to model the impact of a change before committing, and apply direct changes to your schedule. It can also recreate activities from an attached image. All changes require your approval before anything is applied.

What can Manny not do?

Manny cannot assign or create codes or resources, change activity status, create or modify calendars, or add comments. It can read the notes attached to activities, but adding or editing notes is not yet supported. Those capabilities are on the roadmap.

What is the difference between a what-if scenario and a direct change?

A what-if scenario models the change first and shows the impact on your project finish, then lets you apply it or save it as a new version. A direct change applies your requested change straight to the schedule, with no scenario step and no new-version option. Both show a summary for your approval first.

Will Manny change my schedule without asking?

No. Manny always shows a summary of the planned changes and waits for you to approve before anything is applied. Manny will only be able to make changes to schedules where you have permission to do so and can create new schedule versions only if you are a Project Owner.

How do I test a change without affecting my current schedule?

Run a what-if scenario and choose Save as New Version. Manny creates a separate version with the change and leaves your original untouched.

Why can't I save a what-if as a new version?

Creating a new version requires the Project Owner role. If you do not have it, you can still apply changes to the version you are working in, or ask a Project Owner to create the version.

Who can apply changes with Manny?

Applying changes is an edit-only feature, so it is restricted to users with edit permissions.

Is there a record of the changes Manny makes?

Yes. Any change you apply through Manny, whether from a what-if scenario or a direct change, is recorded in the project Change Log with the user’s name , the same as a manual edit, with a note saying the action was “Assisted by Manny” so you can see what changed and when.
