Latest Update: 10-22-2026
Once your organization installs Planera as a Custom Integration in Autodesk, each user can connect their own Autodesk account and export schedules from Planera straight into Autodesk. Here's how the pieces fit together:
Hub-level setup (one-time): An Autodesk Account Administrator adds Planera as a Custom Integration. This enables the integration for the whole account.
Per-user connection: Each user who wants to export connects their own Autodesk account in Planera. This quick step is per user and is browser-specific.
Export: Once connected, users can export a schedule from Planera to any Autodesk project they have access to. Export is always something a person starts by going to the More menu and clicking Sync with Autodesk; Planera does not push schedules to Autodesk on a schedule or in the background.
Stale schedules can't be exported. If your schedule has changes that haven't been scheduled yet, the Export to Autodesk option is turned off until you run the schedule.
Why Per-User?
Planera uses Autodesk's standard OAuth flow. Each person authenticates with their own Autodesk credentials, so exports happen under their own identity and only reach projects they're permitted to see.
What Gets Exported?
Planera exports your schedule in P6 XER format (.xer). Each export creates a new version of the file in Autodesk (V1, V2, V3, and so on), and the Schedule tool always picks up the latest version.
What About Getting Data Back From Autodesk?
At this time, Planera does not pull data back from Autodesk. Exports are one-way: Planera to Autodesk. Recommended workflow is to make changes and progress updates in Planera and sync with Autodesk after running the schedule.
