Latest Update: 8-17-2026
Sometimes, it is valuable to see the Gantt chart in a relative timeline because the actual start date of the project may not yet be known.
You have to enter a start date for the project to get scheduled. But you can view the Gantt chart in relative dates instead of real dates.
Navigate to the Gantt chart and click on More
Click on Time Display in the pop-up menu, and the Time Display selection window will open up
Select the desired time display format
Frequently Asked Questions
Why would I use relative time instead of absolute dates?
Relative time is useful when your project's actual start date isn't confirmed yet. It lets you view the Gantt chart's timeline without depending on a fixed calendar date.
Do I still need to set a start date if I use relative time?
Yes. Planera requires a start date to schedule the project, but you can still choose to display the Gantt chart in relative dates instead of real calendar dates.
Where do I switch between absolute and relative time views?
Click "More" in the Gantt chart, then select "Time Display" from the pop-up menu to choose your preferred format.
