Latest Update: 4-28-2026
In Planera, working days are controlled by calendars. Calendars can be applied at two levels:
Project Default Calendar : used by all activities that do not have a specific calendar assigned
Activity-level Calendar : overrides the project default for specific activities
Change the Entire Project's Working Days
Use this option if most or all activities should follow a different work schedule.
For example, if you want to change the entire schedule from a 5-day workweek to a 6-day workweek:
Open the More menu
Select Project Settings
Under the Default Calendar section, choose a calendar that includes your desired working days (e.g., a 6-day calendar)
Save your changes
What this does:
Updates all activities currently using the Project Default Calendar
Does not affect activities that already have a specific calendar applied
Change Working Days for Specific Activities
Use this option if only certain activities should follow a different work schedule.
For example, concrete curing activities should be on a 7-day calendar:
Navigate to Table View and select the Build tab (recommended for bulk updates)
Locate the Calendars column
Select one or more activities
Click the calendar cell and choose the appropriate calendar from the drop down (e.g., 6-day calendar)
Note: You can change calendars on individual activities from other views, but Table View is the fastest way to bulk-select
Frequently Asked Questions
If I change the project default calendar, do all my activities get updated?
Only activities using the project default calendar will be updated. Activities with a specific calendar assigned will keep their current assignment and will not be affected.
Can an activity override the project default calendar?
Yes. You can assign a specific calendar to any activity, which will override the project default calendar for just that activity. This is useful when some activities need a different work schedule.
What is the difference between the project default calendar and an activity-level calendar?
The project default calendar applies to all activities by default; unless you assign a specific calendar to an activity. Activity-level calendars override the project default for that specific activity only.
If I have 100 activities and want most of them on a 6-day calendar with just a few on 7-day, which approach is faster?
Set the project default calendar to 6-day first. Then use Table View to select and assign the few activities that need 7-day calendars. This is faster than bulk-assigning calendars to 95 activities individually.
Does changing an activity's calendar affect other activities with the same task type?
No. Calendar assignments are specific to individual activities. Changing one activity's calendar does not affect other activities, even if they have the same task type.
